Sonae Sierra is building another office tower over the Centro Colombo in Lisbon and expanding the shopping mall in an additional 17,000 m2 of gross leasable area. The mall expansion will relocate, reorganize and expand the food court area, as well as increase the offer in the retail area.

As consumers demand fresh experiences and leisure options from their shopping centre outings, the transformation of F&B areas into key resources for creating value for tenants and shopping center owners is as important as the enhancement of shops or leisure provision. More than just a place to eat, visitors are looking at F&B areas as a social place, where they can gather and spend time. This understanding has led Sonae Sierra to rethink F&B areas and develop from scratch third generation food areas’ concepts, which attract more visitors and clients to stay for a longer period, generating higher spending and ultimately translating into superior sales and rents.

This new F&B concept – called The Cooking Block – required branding services for presentation purposes to stakeholders. The client wanted a logo design that is bold, unique and fun. We subsequently transformed the architectural plan into a beautiful and memorable logo that is based on simple diagrammatic shapes and conveys the existence of 5 distinct areas. Thus, 5 secondary logos were created, bringing variety, while keeping the brand design cohesive and intact.

Construction work to begin in 2021, to be completed in 2023.
